NEXT STEPS TO STRENGHTEN THE INTEGRITY OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
Following the announcement made by the Albanese Government on the 26th of August regarding actions to end rorts in international education, a further media release on the 2nd of October 2023 detailed the next steps to strengthen the integrity of international education.
Integrity issues have been identified in the Nixon Review and as a consequence of the findings, the government will build risk indicators across the international education system. These risk indicators will inform a monitoring framework that will drive targeted compliance by education regulators, and we will increase monitoring of student attendance.
The Government will also amend the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) to strengthen the existing fit and proper provider test.
Over 1,650 delegates will meet in person at AIEC 2023 scheduled in Adelaide from the 10 to 13 of October.
The program includes sessions covering over 100 important topics for international education with the presence of over 200 speakers, hot topics in all key interest areas, expert panels and presentations, interactive session formats to facilitate learning and discussion.
This year’s theme focuses on the role that innovation plays in transforming the experiences of our students and the communities in which they live, work and study.
Aviation Australia will attend the conference and this will represent a fantastic opportunity to schedule meetings. Simply reach out to Simone at simone.trentino@aviationaustralia.aero to lock in a time for your discussion.
2024 EASA COURSES
Agents are reminded to consider the following information when recruiting for the EASA 2024 courses:
Application close date: this date is the last chance to submit an application to Aviation Australia. It is highly recommended to include all certified documentation without missing information to avoid delays that could result in deferring the applicant to the following course.
Course start date: this indicates the first day of classes for EASA students. It is expected that by this date students would have already received their visas as well as being physically in Brisbane to commence the course.
Visa processing time: agents are reminded to consider visa processing times when discussing course options with students. As applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, processing times can vary for a range of reasons. Simply check the visa processing time tool here.
Accommodation: the increased demand in accommodation from domestic and international students requires applications to be submitted ahead of time. It is recommended to start exploring accommodation options as soon as a letter of offer is received.
EASA TB1 2024 dates:
15 January 2024 (Applications close 23 October 2023)
8 April 2024 (Applications close 5 February 2024)

EASA TB2 2024 dates
5 February 2024 (Applications close 13 November 2023)
Starting from the first week of November, Aviation Australia will conduct an audit on 2023 agent performances. Agents are requested to submit the following documentation to customerexperience@aviationaustralia.aero :
A summary of the recruitment and marketing activities conducted for 2023.
A summary of the 2024 proposed recruitment and marketing activities.
This will also support the allocation of resources to international markets allowing Aviation Australia to provide coverage and assistance to agents both onshore and offshore.
COMMISSION CLAIMS – REMINDER
Agents are reminded to consider processing times when submitting commission claims. Documents with missing information will increase the timeframes for payment into nominated bank accounts.
The International Agent resource pack that can be found here contains useful information on this topic including:
Agent Manual: section 16 highlights the procedure for commission claims.
Commission claim sample: this is a sample invoice highlighting key information required by the Aviation Australia’s finance team.
Payment plan sample: this is the most common payment applied to international students.
